Ownership, leverage, and standing: building a position that is actually yours, priced and defensible.
A salary, however high, is rented income. It exists at someone else's discretion and disappears the moment that discretion changes: a restructuring, a new hire above you, a single decision made in a room you were never in. A senior earner with no equity and no ownership position is one bad year away from starting over, regardless of what the payslip said the year before. Equity is the only position that survives a bad year, because it does not require anyone's continued approval to exist.
This is the same discipline tracked on the Finance page and inside the Matrix: every partnership, every deal, every hire is a balance-sheet decision before it is anything else, and standing is built the same way discipline is: allocated consistently, not claimed once and assumed to hold.
A salary is rented income, revocable on someone else's terms. Equity is owned position.
Reputation and ownership compound the same way discipline does, slowly, then all at once.
Every deal is a balance-sheet decision first. Read the terms before you read the room.
